The pinch gesture needed for several functions is a little more difficult for the game to recognize than you’d like when you get in really sticky situations too. That includes the pace of the action and the collision detection. Proper timing and knowledge are rewarded, but everything else about the gameplay is a step below what you’d find in a console game. For instance, you simply swipe toward the corner to climb to the top rope, and tap on weapons to pick them up. It’s a lot to remember, but when in doubt, you almost always do the most intuitive thing. Signature and finishing moves are clearly marked with the two-finger swipes needed to activate them when available, and there’s even a rudimentary reversal system in the mix. A pinch intiates a grapple, from which you can swipe in any direction to pull off a move. Want to walk toward an opponent? Just tap on him to start, then tap again to start punching and striking when within range. The development team at n-space did a nearly masterful job, enabling you to pull off almost everything you’d expect with a variety of taps, swipes and other gestures. It’s quite possible that your first question when hearing about WWE 2K is going to be similar to mine: surely, there’s no way they can incoporate all of the different things you can do in the squared circle in a game with touchscreen controls, right? Not quite, as it turns out. And it’s certainly a worthy effort for a first try, though it makes too many concessions to its console brethren to be called a champion right from the opening bell. Then all of a sudden, they announce WWE 2K, the first real WWE wrestling sim for iOS and Android, and bam! Like an RKO out of nowhere, it’s out. #WWE 2K15 PC REVIEW 1080P#
The Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions (which both run in 1080p at 60 frames per second) will follow on November 18. WWE WK15 will first debut on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on October 28. It centers around John Cena's rivalry with CM Punk, but will also include matches with other wrestlers. The mode will feature 33 matches, all based on real-life events. The 2K Showcase mode is a story mode focused on wrestling history. M圜areer is similar to the equivalent mode in NBA 2K15, and will be exclusive to Xbox One and Playstation 4. The former allows players to create their own Superstar and progress through his or her career. Having recently enjoyed the excellent AI racers in Forza Horizon 2, it's great to see Yukes and 2K Sports striving to improve their wrestlers' AI as well.įinally, the game will offer a couple of new or revamped modes: M圜areer and 2K Showcase. Larger wrestlers can't do things like climb the turnbuckle that they couldn't do in real life, while smaller and faster characters won't bust out power moves uncharacteristically. Wrestlers now behave more like their real-life counterparts. Stamina refills between moves though, so a little evasion and rest will keep your fighter energized and on his or her feet.Ĭomputer AI has also been improved in this year's game. Let the meter run all the way out and your wrestler will be too exhausted to pull off finishing moves. As the stamina meter depletes, speed decreases and moves become harder to perform. Running and performing various moves depletes your stamina meter. The new stamina meter affects each player's performance as well. Each combatant will then rotate the right analog stick as they attempt to find the sweet spot and pull off the intended move (or escape). These moves have a paper-rock-scissors style balance, giving both players a chance to come out on top of the grapple. Players can initiate a grapple with the press of a button, at which point both sides can press one of three buttons to initiate a different type of move. One of the big changes is an all-new chain wrestling system. WWE 2K15 is a big deal because it marks the first time in years that developer Yukes has gone back to the drawing board and dramatically upgraded the game's wrestling engine.
